The Herring of Pembroke

This year's herring count is still being calculated, but it will be a healthy number in the two hundred thousand to four hundred thousand range.  This is going in the right direction but is still a far cry from the millions of the fish that inhabited our rivers just 100 years ago.

These juvenile herring are starting first their trip to Cape Cod Bay from Oldham Pond. Many of the these will return to Oldham Pond several times in their lives.
